In brief:

  • The Parish School closed in 2010 following a sharp single-year enrollment decline when a tuition assistance program was severely curtailed.  For a scholarly study of the national crisis affecting urban Catholic schools, see here.  The Parish hosts Cristo Rey High School, a network of schools that are in part a response to this crisis.  As recently as 2009, the University of Notre Dame's Alliance for Catholic Education studied the pairing of Cristo Rey High School and the Parish School, and observed them to be extraordinary examples of urban Catholic education.
  • Chime Schedule, here.
  • Requiescat in Pacem.  We are sad to announce the deaths of Sister Mary Ellen, BVM (Teresetta), and Sister Mary Nan, BVM (John William).  Sisters Teresetta and John William (as they were known at All Hallows) passed from this world into the next in December 2011.  Both were thoughtfully eulogized at the BVM Motherhouse.  Sister Mary John William's eulogy included a fond remembrance sent to the Motherhouse by an All Hallows graduate.  Both Sisters taught at All Hallows from 1964 to 1968.  Sister Mary John William taught one of the two eighth grade classes; Sister Mary Teresetta taught one of the two seventh grade classes.
  • Gifts welcomed in support of the Parish music program.  All Hallows Church's two premier instruments, a Yamaha Grand Piano and a four-register Viscount Digital Pipe Organ (one of only nine in the world), require constant maintenance.
